ElectricAid combats gender-based violence in North-West Pakistan
Our 2013 funding – €19,185 to Trócaire – was to strengthen the shelter, security and services provided to woman & child victims of gender-based violence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. In a traditional society, GBV issues can be lethal, and cultural norms still have to be respected.

The aim of the project was to contribute to strengthening the Shelter ( Mera Ghar), specifically in the improvement of quality of services related to Gender Based Violence ( GBV) prevention and response. The existing Shelter did no longer offer enough capacity or resources for daily services. In order to cover for the diversity of needs of the survivors; legal, counselling, accommodation and medical, the project aimed at contracting a new renting lease for another building that will increase the capacity and the services offered by the centre
