Your outstandingly generous response to our Nepal Appeal (we’re heading for €70,000 today, Monday 11th) has made additional two fundings possible. We have contributed €3,000 to the Cork-based but Darjeeling-located charity, Edith Wilkins Foundation, who have a team in Nepal doing basic relief work in some of the hardest-hit areas. We have also been able to contribute €9,000 to Action Aid, who have been in Nepal since 1982, enabling the set-up of two support and information centres, focusing on vulnerable women and children, displaced and traumatised by the earthquake.
We are holding back the rest of the funds (currently about €16,000) to enable us to fund more medium-term recovery projects. As ever, we can do more – if you can give more.
Thank you all for reaching out to the people of Nepal in their darkest hour.
