Our Sale this year broke all records. In the roomier and brighter surrounds of the McLaughlin Room, we turned over a huge variety of education, entertainment, music, film and knowledge – all generously donated by our friends and supporters. We sold vintage hardbacks, poetry, classics, “50 Shades”, murder mysteries, romance – something for everyone! Sport, science, cookery and history books were particularly in demand on the non-fiction side, and some of our best customers staggered out under the weight of their bargains! We raised a record €2,800 in 2 days – a huge increase from last year, and a lot of selling at “3 for a fiver”! The unsold balance of the stock is now on its way to Oxfam, so more will be raised by them from your generosity.
Just as importantly, we raised the profile of ElectricAid, and had a lot of fun along the way. This event is now firmly established as firm favourite in the Head Office calendar. Our Raffle at the Sale brought in fans of the Boss, golfers, soccer supporters, and art aficionados – and contributed strongly to our total raised. The lucky winners were:
|Carl Murphy||Pair of Sandra Ryan photo prints.||Donated by Sandra Ryan.|
|Maria Bennett||Set of Ethiopian Soapstone Figurines.||Donated by ElectricAid.|
|Anh-Tun Dam||2 Green Fees for Greenore GC||Donated by Peter Morgan.|
|Neil Kearney||Druid’s Glen GC, 2 Green Fees||Donated by Pat O’Doherty|
|Christine Maloney||2 tickets, Ireland v. Holland||Donated by Corporate Affairs|
|Peter Kilcourse||2 premium tickets, Bruce Springsteen||Donated by Electric Ireland.|
Big thanks are due to so many people – our prize sponsors, Sandra Ryan our graphic designer and sponsor, Alex and the team in the HO Restaurant, Brendan, Eddie and the moving crew for setting us up and down so efficiently, Gerry McDonald in Group Internal Audit for supervising the Raffle, and most of all you, our donors and customers, who supported us this year in record numbers..
Thanks again, and see you all in Gateway next year!
