The Good News! Trust is a fairly small faith-based charity, located in Jersey, and with excellent links with the Jersey Overseas Aid Commission and in rural Kenya.
In the last 10 years, they have completed a massive 102 school rehabilitation projects, and 62 water & sanitation (WASH) projects, in a relatively-small rural area around Oyugis, Kenya.
Since 2007, ElectricAid has funded 6 of their school projects with a total of €57,300 – funding that continues to improve the lives of thousands of children. Please take a moment to read their latest report, on the rehabilitation of Kisuri PS (attached).
Together, the Good News! Trust and ElectricAid have made a really significant impact on this part of Kenya.
NGOs are often accused of not having an exit strategy, of just keeping doing what they do, because that is what they have always done. The Good News! Trust can’t be so accused. They have taken the brave decision to exit the Oyugis area, essentially because the area has benefited so much, real development has taken place, and that the needs are now far greater in rural Mozambique, their other area of focus. Needless to say, ElectricAid will be with Good News! Trust all the way in Mozambique.
