ElectricAid has always responded to emergencies – whether in Nepal or Naas, Haiti or Athlone. In December 2015, we funded the Irish Red Cross with €10,000 towards their work alleviating the effects of storms and flooding in the horrible winter of 2015/6. Our funding went into the “general pot” of storm alleviation funds, used all over Ireland for rescue and assistance.
Over 60 warnings from minor(yellow) to major(red), were issued during the winter. Red Cross staff and volunteers responded all over the country, particularly in the Shannon basin and in Munster. Read their report to us here to appreciate this major effort by a largely voluntary organisation. We are glad to have played our part – through your generosity.
