From Fitzwilliam Street to East Africa!

Last evening (23.05.2017), the ElectricAid Committee met to consider the outstanding success of our “Leaving Fitzwilliam” online auction – €20,000 has been raised, with some more to come.

These monies could go straight into our general funds, to be used for development projects through the year. However, consider the gravity of the developing food crisis in East Africa – 24 million people are in danger throughout the affected region, which stretches from northern Nigeria to Yemen on the Arabian peninsula. With this in mind, we have decided to immediately commit the full amount received to this pressing humanitarian emergency.

So, if you bought a chair, a press or a print, you can rest assured that your funds are saving lives now in East Africa and beyond. This funding is additional to the €20,000 already committed earlier in 2017. The situation is still developing, and we may go with a Special Appeal later in the year. Watch this space …
