Partnership: From Castleknock to Ethiopia

The Castleknock Third World Partnership has been running since 2008. The Castleknock parish partners with the community of Metcha Borodo, 80 km west of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It is a practical example of real outreach and partnership. This project came to us through a member who lives in Castleknock.

As part of their continued engagement with Metcha Borodo, they are engaged in rebuilding the community’s school, which  catered for 900 students in dilapidated and dangerous conditions. Our part-funding of a 3-classroom block (€7,000), in partnership (again) with Castleknock TWP (€16,000), local community contributions (€15,000), and the Combined Services Third World Fund (€8,000), delivered this project. Again, the “bang for your buck” in the Developing World is fantastic – this project could cost about €500,000 in Ireland.

The value of real partnership, as espoused by ElectricAid and Castleknock TWP, is clear. Read their full report here. 15-A-103 Final Report 27102016
