ElectricAid’s funding priorities include Basic Infrastructure (especially WASH projects), Health Care, Primary & Vocational Education, and Agriculture & Income Generation. These are the nuts & bolts of grass-roots development. We see Education as a prime driver of development, with particular emphasis on continuing participation by girls. Agricultural development and income-generating projects develop sustainability and self-reliance, and contain the flow of the rural poor to urban slums. Health care, and better health facilities save lives – it’s as simple as that. Basic infrastructure provides clean water, better health, electric power, and decent sanitation – and is a key enabler of longer & better life.

So how did we do in 2017? We certainly “stuck to the knitting”, devoting 79% of our funding to these priority areas. The balance was made up of projects funded in the areas of Emergency Response, Housing, and Disabilities & Elderly. See below for a more detailed breakdown of projects and funding across these areas in 2017.
