ElectricAid, the social justice and development charity of ESB and EirGrid staff and pensioners is proud to announce a once year partnership with SeeBeyondBorders, an education focused charity with operations in Ireland, Australia, and Cambodia.
Over the last 13 years, SeeBeyondBorders has trained over 500 teachers in 199 schools, transforming education for more than 27,000 children in rural northwest Cambodia.
Following a successful pilot project, the partnership will see ElectricAid contribute €40,000 to support the foundational components of a five-year innovative education program aimed at improving education through technology. This project will build the skills of teachers, mentors, and master-mentors in using technology and digital resources to engage and enhance learning for children. Year one will initially focus on 65 teachers and teacher mentors in 11 schools who will deliver improved education to 1,576 children. Over the course of the year, the programme will also digitise 500 teaching resources and refine and enhance the technological system.
Key project deliverables for year one:
- 46 Teachers: who confidently use technology to provide quality teaching and learning.
- 12 Mentors: who confidently use digital resources to support teachers they mentor.
- 7 Master Mentors: who support teachers and mentors to use educational technology.
- The total number of teacher and mentor direct beneficiaries is 65,
- In year one, 1,576 primary school children from 11 schools will directly benefit from the project and receive a better-quality education.

Commenting on the pilot, grade-one teacher Khoun Sophon added;
“I never thought that something I found so challenging at first could become so helpful to me, especially in my classroom management. It really has increased my students’ participation and attendance.”
