Earlier this year, ElectricAid had the pleasure of funding a Solar Powered Water Pump in Sierra Leone through the St John of God Foundation which affected the lives of over 250 students and faculty.
This pump provides 24/7 access to fresh, clean water

The project aligned to 2 of the United Nation’s 17 Goals:
- Goal 6: To achieve universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water for all by 2030.
- Goal 7: To achieve affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all by 2030.
This water pump means that students no longer need to travel long distances for water access and are therefore able to attend more lectures and focus on their studies.
One student stated that “Access to water couldn’t have come at a better time. It has reduced the burden of getting up early to fetch water and has allowed us to spend more time studying for our exams”
The availability of water has:
- Created a much more positive atmosphere on campus.
- Reduced late attendance to morning lectures by 60%.
- Improved sanitisation by 40%.
We wish all of the students the very best in their studies. – ElectricAid
