Our emergency funds are exhausted …
The world is very troubled, and innocent people are suffering greatly. Over the last month, ElectricAid has committed all of our emergency funds to four separate areas of strife, where the needs are extreme:
| South Sudan | Oxfam Ireland
Concern |
Care for internally-displaced people (IDPs)
Nutrition for S. Sudan refugees in Ethiopia |
€5,000
€7,000 |
| Liberia | ASHDI | Combating the spread of Ebola | €7,500 |
| Gaza | Irish Red Cross | Emergency medical relief | €5,000 |
| Iraq | Christian Aid Ireland | IDP Care for those displaced by conflict | €5,000 |
ElectricAid prioritises development over disaster. We have more requests on hand. This morning, (Tuesday 19.08), we had to refuse an urgent appeal from a trusted partner in Liberia – we have no more funds for emergency relief. But we can’t in good conscience turn our backs on the needs of hundreds of thousands of people in extreme crisis – whether they are facing Ebola in West Africa or devastation in Gaza.
We have effectively emptied our emergency capabilities, and can no longer respond. We are not running a full-blown Special Appeal at this time, but we do ask you to consider a once-off donation now. This will allow us to continue reaching out on your behalf to our brothers and sisters in crisis. Any funds received will be used for emergency relief – we anticipate mostly in Gaza and West Africa (Ebola).

Thank you.
